EFOY Fuel Cartridges

All EFOY fuel cells are powered by cartridges of ultrapure methanol fuel.

The EFOY fuel cells consume about 0.9 litres of methanol to generate 1 kWh of energy. So that means that the EFOY 1600 can run continuously for 7 days on one 10 litre cartridge!

Available in 5 and 10 litre capacities.

Safety certified

EFOY fuel cartridges carry the TÜV seal of safety. The fuel cartridges are designed for maximum safety using high-impact plastic. The cartridges have been subjected to drop and shock tests and have passed them with flying colours.

EFOY fuel cartridges have a safety valve that prevents leakage. The valve only opens when the cartridge is connected to an EFOY fuel cell. When removed, the safety valve hermetically reseals. At no time do you come into contact with methanol.

Ultra Pure – the seal of quality for EFOY fuel cartridges

EFOY fuel cells are designed to run exclusively on EFOY fuel cartridges. EFOY fuel cells contain ultrapure fuel especially created for EFOY fuel cells.

This ensures that the fuel meets the standard of purity that the process requires. Use of EFOY fuel cartridges prevents irreversible damage to the fuel cell caused by chemical impurities. Damage that occurs due to the use of contaminated fuel is not covered under the general warranty.

Clean fuel

Methanol is a naturally occuring alcohol. More and more methanol is being produced from renewable resources such as household waste products. These initiatives help to conserve resources and allow the EFOY fuel cells to generate energy in an environmentally friendly way.

Note: the above figures are approximate. These indicate the duration that the fuel cell would run at full output. EFOY fuel cells use 0.9 l of methanol to generate 1 kWh of electrical power.

The best way to think of the amount of fuel needed is to think of the fuel cartridges as "bottled power". An M5 will generate 5.5 kWh of power.

So, lets say you have a 110 Ah leisure battery and you know it will go 1 day before it needs recharging (say 50% discharged) in normal daily use. That means the battery has supplied
110 Ah x 12V x 50% = 660 Wh

660 Wh has been used. An M5 fuel cartridge can provide this daily charge 5500 / 660 = 8.3 times. Eight days of use from one M5 cartridge.
